JFIF (acronym for JPEG File Interchange Format) is a bitmap file format based on JPEG compression. The format was created to facilitate exchanging JPEG encoded files compatible with the JPEG Interchange Format (JIF) standard.

Even though JFIF files have been designed to use a minimal amount of data, they were gradually superseded by other graphic formats.
