GeoCalculator Portable Changelog

What's new in GeoCalculator Portable 4.9.8

Jul 12, 2013
  • Fixed bug in partially oriented core routines to ignore changes in conventions settings for position of BM and changes to the top-of-ellipse/bottom-of-ellipse convention (as these do not affect calculations using a reference plane).
  • These changes fixed existing bug in partially oriented calculations where top-of-ellipse convention had been selected.

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.9.7 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Replaced Help file link in Help Menu with link to new version of compiled HTML HelpFile. There are no other changes in this release.

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.9.6 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Fixed major problem with results of partially oriented core calculations being reported incorrectly
  • Fixed glitch in processing app dips with planes with same strike as section (recent bug, not present in previous versions.
  • Fixed bug in deriving the Reference Plane in partially oriented core with RH Strike rule input. Fixed bug in calculations with upwardly oriented core. Minor changes to Registration module formatting.

  • Reformatted Registration module. Reformated whole form to stop cramping of text.
  • Fixed bug in processing app dip option in drillhole calcs (section line was permanently set to 360).
  • Fixed ambiguity in wording of core plunge sign conventions. Made other cosmetic changes.
  • Fixed cramped labels in interface. Channged oriented core routine so that solutions giving horizontal planes or vertical lines report the same dip/plunge direction as the core
  • Fixed glitch in calculation of drillhole apparent dips introduced in previous change.
  • Add Convention option to choose 'upcore' trend for upwardly inclined drillholes instead of the geological convention of downward trend of a line. Made cosmetic changes to correct for overlapping options in Conventions page for low resolution monitors.

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.9 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Fixed bug not allowing decimal values in quadrant notations.
  • Allowed for comma decimal locales, with the ability to take input values using either period or comma delimiters, but allowing the Results output to be fixed to the non-locale setting. Fixed bug not converting strike/dip/sense to RH strike correctly. Fixed bug giving wrong quadrant sense for some line values in unfolding routines.
  • Compiled to new .exe name so that ver 4.9 can be run simultaneously with ver 4.8

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.8 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Added option to simultaneously calculate apparent dips for oriented core plane procedures.
  • Also added new results windows to show the full orientation of any ambiguous results from the partially oriented core options. Added options to include these new results windows in output files.
  • Added option for appending labels to results columns in output file
  • Fixed bug in App Dip and PlungeToPitch calcs giving answer of 0 pitch for 90 degree planes
  • Fixed bug with stereo not plotting core axes entered as zeniths correctly.
  • Fixed bug causing crash when changing some strike dip conventions with quadrant notations.
  • Corrected problem with partially oriented core procedures not being completely constrained by the dip dirn when dip dirn or full orientation was used as the reference control.
  • Added "zenith" option for core orientations. Added indication of ambiguity to partially oriented core calculations.
  • Corrected bug giving wrong sense in apparent dip calculations.
  • Recompiled and repackaged to eliminate problem in download package.
  • Fixed bug in drillcore line calculation options where the ellipse/core angle to the plane (delta angle) was set at 0 or 180; and the (beta) line angle in the plane was set at 270. Added option to not display -ve signs in the Results, for lines with upward polarity. Added option to separately define whether core 'Bottom' Marks or 'Top' Marks are used as the reference line
  • Changed default drillcore names to current alpha, beta, gamma usage.
  • Changed Helpfiles to reflect changes. Added more explanation to drillcore help files.
  • Changed Unregistered limitations to allow a limited number of drillcore calculations.

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.7 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Added new calculations for partially oriented drillcore.
  • Corrected a bug causing incorrect resultsin the partially oriented core calculations.

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.6 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Added calculation of trend of a line in a plane given its plunge (and general sense of plunge).
  • Added two new unfolding calculations.
  • Fixed bug causing crash in drillhole 'line-in-ellipse' calculation when data entered from file or clipboard. Added option to retain header line in file output.
  • Added counters to keep track of progress during file input of large datasets.
  • Widened column display in File Format dialog.
  • Add option to set default -ve sign for downward plunging core
  • Fixed obscure bug in drillhole calc that gave gave 90° dip for geographically
  • horizontal planes. Cosmetic changes made to Conventions page.
  • Forced option changes made in Nomenclature dialog to be reflected in
  • option buttons on Conventions page.
  • Cosmetic changes to Registration module
  • Corrected bug in pitch/rake calculations introduced during 29/6/02 corrections.
  • Improved legend in stereo module to prevent character cramping.
  • Corrected a couple of annoyances/bugs in drill-hole calculation:
  • ) non-acceptance of +- 90 beta angle convention; change of this convention
  • to +-180 to allow for either beta convention to be used for polar lines;
  • Corrected bug giving incorrect sign for some beta line calculations using top-of-ellipse alpha convention. Corrected incorrect convention labelling of alpha convention in help window. Expanded some labels in stereo window to avoid cramping and illegibility in some displays.
  • Corrected bug in file output procedure that caused no delimiter to be set
  • between the results columns and the appended input data columns; also corrected bug causing misalignment when the input file contains missing data elements.

New in GeoCalculator Portable 4.5 (Jan 10, 2013)

  • Added paste capability, plane bisecting 2 lines,
  • user-defined nomenclature. Corrected bug in pop-up menu selection.
