  • Updated the shuffle and repeat icons. Yep Ive finally caved on this one. Thanks to @skylineone044 for helping design these. These new icons are less confusing and now also show what sub-mode you're in (in an understandable way).
  • There is now a setting to set the background to be artist images rather than just album art under Settings > Theme

  • In this theme, the bottom panel will automatically adapt its colour to the active album art!
  • Album chart generator:

  • Added top-chart generator function [Linux only]
  • This function generates an album grid chart of a given size as an image file. You can share them with your friends!
  • Tip: You can find this function by going Settings... > Functions > Chart Generator...
  • This function will target the actively viewed playlist and include albums in order starting from the top of the playlist. If you were to want a chart of your most played albums, you could use the Most played albums playlist generator function or you could edit a playlist yourself manually for items you want to include.
  • You can specify the font and font size to use in the config file.

  • Main Changes:
  • Added year search results to global search.
  • This allows you to create a playlist of a single year by searching for example 2019 in the global search.
  • Gallery thumbnails can now be set slightly smaller and will load in a random order effect.
  • Improved gallery loading speed when loading from cache.
  • Gallery now groups multi-CD folders as one album.
  • Importer now scans track metadata after importing to playlist.
  • Tip: Scan stage will safely resume on restart if interrupted.
  • Fixes:
  • Fixed column panel defaulting to hidden state.
  • Fixed UI stutter when changing gallery image size.
  • Fixed delay when deselecting items in tracklist.

New in Tauon Music Box 4.4.0 (Jun 15, 2019)

  • Tracks can now be inserted into the queue by drag and drop from the main tracklist.
  • The queue panel area now persists when empty.
  • Added "Composer" field support. This field is now shown in track info and can be searched.
  • Note: You will need to do a tag-rescan for this feature to be enabled on existing imported tracks.
  • Mini Mode Micro now shows a seek bar when moused over.
  • You can now swap between Mini Mode Square and Micro by wheel clicking. (alternately shift-click)
  • Various config settings can now be reloaded without needing an app restart.
  • Fixed setting custom fonts. (Linux only)
  • There is now a function to add tracks to the start of the queue in the track context menu. (hold shift to reveal)
  • Auto-Stop now rests on the following track now, instead of beginning of track that was playing.
  • You can now remove embedded art from just a singe track by holding shift when using the function.
  • Columns view can now show tool-tips for truncated fields. (Linux only)
  • Added support for decoding of MP3 genre codes to tag scanner.

New in Tauon Music Box 4.3.1 (May 25, 2019)

  • Mini mode now has two new variants; Mini Mode Square and Mini Mode Micro (pictured)

New in Tauon Music Box 4.3.0 (May 20, 2019)

  • New features:
  • Added fetch cover art feature for quick downloading of album art.
  • This function downloads cover art to the folder of the track. Prioritises searching fanart.tv for high resolution art, falling back to MusicBrainz.
  • Tip: In cases where an artist has multiple albums with the same title, try tag tracks using MusicBrainz Picard first since tags with MBIDs will help ensure a correct match.
  • Suggestion: If you use MusicBrainz Picard, I recommend disabling its album art embedding function.
  • Added ability to delete image files directly from the picture context menu.
  • Added user key-mapping configuration file.
  • Other changes:
  • Re-enabled "Artist info panel" and artist thumbnail downloading.
  • Artist images are now sourced from fanart.tv and optionally from Discogs using an account. Any old last.fm images will be used if they are still cached. Enabling Discogs is suggested if you want the most artist thumbnails.
  • Added a new lyrics provider Apiseeds.
  • Fixed album art possibly cycling when clicking on to focus window.
  • Various tweaks and fixes.

  • Main Changes:
  • Improved last.fm love integration:
  • This release adds a love track option to the track context menu, plus numerous fixes behind the scenes.
  • There is now a display option to show love hearts for loved tracks next to the track time. In addition, loves of your last.fm friends can be shown too!
  • Experimental Quick Import function:
  • This release adds a quick import function to the key F8
  • Pressing this will scan your downloads folder for archives and recent folders and automatically attempt to import them to the current playlist.
  • This way you can go straight to Tauon Music Box after downloading something using your web browser, no need to open a file or archive manager.
  • Other bug fixes and UI tweaks:
  • The following critical bugs were fixed:
  • Rename tracks text entry triggering search
  • Deleting playlists causing crash when broadcasting
  • Other improvements:
  • The web server can now be started and stopped from settings without needing restart

  • MAIN CHANGES:
  • Upgraded Search:
  • This version of Tauon Music Box introduces a new global search feature.
  • This search overlay automatically activates when the user begins typing on any of the main screens.
  • Unlike the previous search, this search actively displays results from all playlists, searching Artist, Title and Album fields individually and attempting to return results in order of relevance.
  • The intention of the previous search function was to be fast, but needing to navigate playlists manually could end up taking longer and leave the user feeling frustrated. This new search lets you have all your albums at your fingertips.
  • For now the old search will remain in place and be referred to as 'find'.
  • Album Time:
  • Also in this release is a new time display mode which displays the current time out of the whole duration of an album, instead of just the current track. Click the display time in the bottom right corner to cycle available modes.
  • Improved support for M4A files:
  • Embedded album art in .m4a files will now be displayed. Album-artist and lyrics information are now read from m4a tags too.
  • Flatpak support (Linux):
  • This release comes with an experimental flatpak package which should make installing across multiple Linux distributions easier.
  • If you are upgrading from a previous .deb install, you can uninstall using sudo apt-get uninstall tauonmusicbox. Your previous configuration and data files will remain in place.
  • Note that this experimental install method may change or may no longer be included in future releases.
