Microsoft has rebranded another app after the Nokia deal

Microsoft completed the acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services division earlier this year, but the firm only started a company-wide rebranding process a month ago, so many of the apps designed to run on Lumia smartphones are getting new names as well.

The famous Nokia Camera app that’s specifically designed to help you take better pictures with your Lumia device was removed from the Windows Phone Store yesterday with no prior notice, which is pretty much the most obvious suggestion that Microsoft is planning some new changes as part of the rebranding process.

Unsurprisingly, the app has relaunched in the Windows Phone Store today, but with a different name that perfectly hints at Microsoft’s emphasis on the new brand.

The Lumia Camera app is part of the Microsoft Lumia brand that will be used for the new smartphone lineup belonging to the Redmond-based tech giant and supposed to come to life with the help of a new device aimed specifically at the Chinese market.

No other details are available for other Microsoft Lumia devices, but there’s no doubt that more such devices should launch in the coming months across the world.

In the meantime, Microsoft is also working to rename its Windows Phone social accounts to better reflect its switch to a fully owned brand.
