PhotoEffects remains a very popular Windows 8 application, so every single update is being delivered to quite a lot of devices running Microsoft’s modern OS.

This morning, a new version showed up in the Store, so make sure you deploy it as soon as possible if you’re one of the main users who already installed it.

The new PhotoEffects release is mostly aimed at fixing bugs and addressing performance issues, which means that a slight boost in performance should be noticed after deploying the update.

The application continues to offer support for the desktop versions of Windows 8, as well as for the tablet-oriented Windows RT that’s powering Microsoft’s Surface RT. PhotoEffects also works flawlessly on Windows 8.1 too.

The feature package is practically unchanged, so it still comes with filters, photo frames, noise remover tools, brightness and contrast controls.
