Start Menu X continues to be a very popular choice for Windows 8 and 8.1 users looking into ways to make the operating system more familiar, so it’s no surprise that the developing team is working hard to improve the app.

Version 4.99 was officially launched this morning and even though no release notes have been provided, users still running the program are recommended to download and install it as fast as possible.

The new Start Menu X version is most likely focused on fixing bugs and other issues in the application, thus improving its features on both Windows 8 and 8.1.

Start Menu X continues to be offered free of charge, which means that you can use it free of charge on your computer even if you’ve already made the move to Microsoft’s new 8.1.
