Microsoft might delay the launch of the Start menu, but users always have the option of third-party software, which continues to come with pretty helpful features for both Windows 8 and 8.1 adopters.

Start Menu X 5.20 was officially rolled out today to bring enhanced performance on both these two modern OS versions, coming with several bug fixes, but also with a couple of new options.

First of all, this new option comes with the ability to display Windows 8 applications in the list. This means that “you can add a Main Menu item or a Tab with one of the options (Programs, Apps+Programs, only Apps),” as the developing team explained in the official release notes earlier today.

If you're running the Pro version, you can also create virtual groups for the items displayed in the main menu or tabs. All you need to do is to right-click displayed content, select Start Menu X and click on “Manage Virtual Groups.”

The application continues to be offered free of charge, but for some new options, you might want to purchase the Pro version which boasts enhanced functionality to improve the overall experience on Windows 8.

Overall, this update should clearly come in handy to those trying to make the modern OS a much more familiar working environment, so download Start Menu X 5.20 right now to see what's new.
