Start Menu X, one of the most popular third-party Start buttons available right now, has received a new round of improvements that enhance the overall experience on both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

Version 4.97 comes with new files highlights, while also fixing small bugs discovered by users in previous builds. Windows 8.1 compatibility continues to be offered, even though dedicated RTM support is yet to be implemented.

Start Menu X can be installed on both Windows 8 and 8.1, turning both operating system into more familiar working environments despite the introduction of the Start screen and the Metro UI.

A customizable power button panel is also available, and so are options to reorder items displayed in the Start Menu on both Windows 8 and 8.1.
