A new beta version is internally tested by Microsoft

Microsoft is privately testing a new version of the Translator app for Windows Phone that could possibly bring new features which were not available before for users of its mobile operating system.

WindowsBlogItalia has come across a new Translator app available in the Windows Phone Store that can always be downloaded by testers whitelisted by Microsoft, so although it shows up in the store, this isn't yet freely available to everyone.

Details are missing right now, but since it's a private beta, the new Translator app is very likely to bring several new features which could be implemented into Windows 10 for phones from the very beginning. A preview of this app could also be included in the first testing version of Windows 10 that could ship this week.

One of the features that are expected to be offered as part of the new Translator app is the possibility of scanning text using the phone's camera and automatically getting it translated into another language. Sharing and copying features are reportedly missing from the app right now, but there's no doubt that Microsoft is working to add new options as we speak.

As far as Windows 10 for phones preview is concerned, which may or may not come with an early build of this app, expect it to be released sometime this month as part of a new insider program for phones.

Microsoft has promised to deliver it in February, and according to Joe Belfiore, the preview is still on track for a launch this month.
