The free upgrade campaign ends on July 29

Microsoft has already tweaked the Windows 10 upgrade prompt to make sure that users have an easy way to decline the offer and stick with their current OS installs, so complaints regarding forced upgrades have been non-existent lately.

But for users who don’t want to take any risks only 10 days before the end of the Windows 10 upgrade promo, GWX Stopper has just received an update that introduces even more tweaks to make sure that nothing unexpected happens on your computer.

Version 3.1 of GWX Stopper adds “protection against GWX executing. GWX Stopper always blocks GWX and other related processes from running. Added policy blocking auto OS upgrade,” according to the official changelog released with the update.

Fortunately, however, the Get Windows 10 app itself seems to be a lot friendlier these days, and there are only small chances to see a computer upgraded to the new operating system without users’ consent. But on the other hand, given the fact that the campaign will end very soon, those who are eligible for the upgrade had better reconsider their options and think whether switching to Windows 10 is worth it or not.

For the moment, however, Windows 10 is still up for grabs free of charge for everyone on Windows 7 or 8.1, and GWX is there to help them with the whole process.
