Today, voice calls (as in “calls made directly over the Internet”) have probably become more popular than phone calls. Technological advancements have made the former much cheaper than the latter, and just as reliable.

However, you may still find yourself in situations where the quality of a voice call is lacking, to say the least. This usually happens because of background noise, such as your colleagues speaking, a loud air conditioner, cars honking or cats having a more exciting conversation right outside your window. To activate Krisp, you must go to the sound settings of the program that you’re using for making voice calls. After you install Krisp, you should have the option to select it both as an input and output audio device. Once selected, it will act as a filter for any background noise that threatens the quality of the conversation.

Using it is pretty easy, as you don’t have too many features to choose from. You can toggle the Mute Noise buttons on and off for the speakers or the microphone, and that’s about it. The interface can then be minimized in the system tray so it doesn’t get in your way.

If you activate it correctly, you’ll immediately notice the difference in sound quality. Sure, some voice call applications may already have a few noise cancelling features of their own, but you can use Krisp when you just want your conversation to sound, well, crisp.
