DepthView

DepthView is an accessible software application that enables you to open and view stereoscopic 3D images. It comes packed with a set of handy options and configuration settings that should be easy to figure out. Installation is not necessary.

As there is no setup pack involved, you can extract the program files to a custom location on the HDD and just click the EXE to launch DepthView. Otherwise, you can save the tool to a USB flash drive to run it on any PC easily. Worth mentioning is that it does not add new entries to the Windows registry or Start menu, leaving the disk clean after removal.

The UI is made from a single window with a plain and simple layout. At startup you are asked to open a JPS or PNS stereo image file. It is possible to switch to full screen mode, hide the menu and scroll bars, zoom in and out, as well as swap the left and right channels.

You can customize the stereo mode when it comes to anaglyph (full or half color, greyscale), side by side and top/bottom (mirror left, right or both, no mirror), interlaced (horizontal or vertical), checkerboard, and mono view (left or right image only).

As far as program configuration goes, you can modify the default rendering mode and startup directory, ask DepthView to start in full screen mode, activate left and right swapping by default, disable drag-and-drop support, enable continuous pan, and so on. Settings can be restored to default.

The app does not put a strain on computer performance, since it runs on low CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works well, without hanging, crashing or popping up error messages. Although it does not implement rich features, DepthView gets the job done and can be easily used by anyone.
