RichEdit

RichEdit is an easy to use application that allows you to create and edit rich text documents. However, it includes a lot more features than the default Windows text editor which makes it suitable for complex projects.

The interface is simple and provides quick access to all the main formatting options from the toolbar. It supports multiple tabs which enables you to work with more than a document at a time.

If you just want to create a rich text document, the editor allows you to adjust the font color, style and alignment. You can indent a paragraph, insert bullets and add subscript or superscript text. Unfortunately, the keyboard shortcuts for changing the font style are not supported.

However, RichEdit includes certain features that makes it stand out from the rest of the text editors. For instance, you can protect a certain paragraph or change the file attributes to read-only in order to prevent unwanted changes.

The application can quickly remove the empty lines or spaces from the beginning of each line in order to reduce the overall size. You can duplicate lines, sort the lines from the file and move an entire line by using the Edit menu.

Although some of these features are similar to source code editors, RichEdit does not support syntax highlighting or macro recording. These features can be added via plugins such as the Mini SC Edit which allows you to work with HTML, JavaScript, PHP or SQL files.

When saving your work, you have the possibility to create a ZIP archive or a PDF document with just one click. A snapshot of the current window can be saved to BMP, JPG or PNG files. Moreover, you can transfer any file or document to a FTP server by using the included uploader.

Overall, RichEdit is a flexible tool that can be used for editing text but also includes features that you would not expect from a text editor. You should try it for yourself in order to test all the features.
