Portable RichEdit

Portable RichEdit is a software application that provides users with a simple means of creating and editing text documents, taking snapshots of the window and saving items to an internal Clipboard.

The installation process is not a prerequisite, as this is the portable counterpart of RichEdit. As a result, the Windows registry and Start menu/screen are not going to be affected in any way and it is not going to leave any kind of traces after you delete it from the hard disk.

Another noteworthy aspect is that if you place the program files to an external data device, you can take Portable RichEdit anywhere with you and run it on any PC you come in contact with.

This tool enables you to edit and create text documents, and supports both at import and export RTF, RTX, RTFD and DOC formats, while you can also upload certain items to your FTP account, so that you can access them easier at a later date.

In addition to that, you can perform management operations with files and folders, such as copying, deleting, moving and protecting items, with just a few clicks, as well as append TXT documents to your on-going projects.

It supports multiple tabs, which means that you can easily start multi-tasking. A ruler is incorporated in the main window, a word wrap option can be applied, while you can also change the font type, style and size.

The indent can be increased or decreased, the alignment can changed and you can capture the current tab and save it to the hard drive as a PNG, JPG or BMP. A Clipboard is integrated which enables you to add up to six body texts, so as to use later by simply clicking a button.

The amount of resources necessary is insignificant at all times, the response time is good, the interface is accessible to all types of users and there are sufficient options integrated to keep you busy for quite a while. We did not detect any errors, crashes or hangs in our tests.

Taking all of this into consideration, we can safely say Portable RichEdit is a pretty efficient piece of software and a good choice for those interested in a text editor, other than Microsoft Word.
