Chess tournaments can oftentimes be more complex in the actual structure and organizational aspects, than in the gameplay itself, and it is exactly for this particular reason that those who decide to organize such tournaments must be prepared for the challenges of such undertakings. The Swiss tournament system has become increasingly popular in the last years, due to its inherent advantages. VinczeSwiss is an application that was created in order to address such requirements, and it will provide users with the means to define the tournament structure, rounds, players, and more.

Right from the start, we noticed that the application features a simple, minimalist design, both for its interface and layout combo, as well as for its features and their functionality. We feel that this design choice is adequate, especially given its intended scope and purpose.

One will be able to add individual players and customize their details pertaining to the ELO, FIDE ID, and national and team IDs. A dedicated search function is present, therefore facilitating the ELO finding process, but no support for batch player adding is present.

Having added the preferred players and their corresponding characteristics, users will then be able to preview the resulting gameplay list, and print it on demand. The application will automatically display it in users’ default browsers, in HTML format.

Taking into account the app’s overall functionality and the provided tools and features, we believe that it could also benefit from more advanced tools, especially in terms of customization.

VinczeSwiss offers a basic yet reliable solution to Swiss chess tournaments, which will allow users to organize the players and rounds in a fashionable way, without too much effort.
