SimpleMarkdown Portable

Markdown editors have long since been one of the most important tools for web writers from all over and, thankfully, our website offers dozens of options in this respect.

One of them is SimpleMarkdown, a no-nonsense and fairly well-packaged markdown editor.

This particular version is dubbed SimpleMarkdown Portable and, as you can imagine, it provides you with the same functionality as its installer counterpart, but without requiring any type of installation or configuration on your part.

The first thing you will notice once you launch the app is its somewhat outdated and pragmatic user interface, with a simple top toolbar that encompasses all the necessary tools.

To be honest, it gets the job done thanks to its intuitive layout and the fact that it comes with a few UI themes more than makes up for these small drawbacks.

Regarding functionality, it's safe to say that SimpleMarkdown Portable does not disappoint, but it's by no means the most feature-packed markdown editor out there.

It packs the almost-obligatory Live Preview, it comes with support for keyboard shortcuts and offers you the possibility to work custom CSS options that should help you style your documents according to your needs.

It would have been great if the app would offer a few more export options, like support for PDF, for instance, but, overall, SimpleMarkdown Portable is a reasonably competent utility that allows you convert text to HTML with the minimum amount of hassle.

Based on its functionality and looks, it's just another run-of-the-mill markdown editor that's also portable, which might be a big plus for lots of web writers out there.
