Have the content of a folder structure copied inside a ZIP archive, but just as index, and not actual data with the help of this application #Folder structure #Directory structure #Copy structure #Structure #Content #Copy
Tasks you perform on a computer might require you to be aware of files and folders inside a specific path. Sure enough, File Explorer is there for you and provides a variety of filter and arrangement options. However, Copy directory structure wants to provide an alternative method by copying the structure inside a ZIP archive.
First off, your computer needs to be equipped with .NET Framework to ensure functionality. Setup takes you through an effortless process, by the end of which you can take the application for a spin. A compact window shows up on launch, with a clean layout which doesn’t really pose any accommodation problems.
As the name clearly puts it, the core function of the application is to create a copy of a directory structure. Needless to say that you must specify the directory of interest, and this needs to be entirely done through the browse dialog, because dragging it over the main window has no effect, and there isn’t a context menu created in this regard either.
Apart from the source, a destination also needs to be specified under the form of a file with the ZIP extension. Other options let you decide whether or not to remove subdirectory structure, or to include ZIP archives inside the report. Regardless of the source size, the new ZIP structure is almost instantly created.
You might end up a little disappointed though. This is when trying to access files inside the ZIP archive, encountering different prompts stating the file is corrupt. It’s not, but the application does nothing more than to create a list which mimics the structure, and doesn’t actually copy content, and there isn’t even an option to include content in the ZIP archive.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Copy directory structure comes with good intentions, but it delivers the result in a rough form which has little to no practicality. It would have been useful to see an option to include actual data, or at least have a text document with the list of items in the source folder.
